Confluencias (2005) Fixed media.

The sound sources of this piece were samples taken from various sources of Cuban folk music. Popular Cuban music is the result of the mixture of different cultures. Two main cultures present in our popular music include Spanish and African,. The sound sources of Confluences were a small sample of guitar and a folk music singer (representing the Spanish culture) and the sound of an afrocuban singer with drums. These sounds are combined during the piece by the use of various techniques such as convolution, and granular synthesis among others. The result is a world of its own, that might be reminiscence for moments of those samples taken from Cuban folk music, but they evolve throughout the piece into their own spiritual journey.
