Columnas the luz (Columns of Light) was Commissioned by SONOR Ensemble and conductor Luis Aguirre from Madrid, Spain, to celebrate the 500 Anniversary of Havana City, to be premiered at the Festival of Musica Española in Leon in September 2019.
Havana is known as the city of lights, and the historic section of the city has many tall columns sometimes eroded by the past of time. Also a city full of music, one can experience many different styles going from one neighborhood to another. These were sources of inspiration for this piece.
