Yoruba

The sound sources of the piece are fragments of the poem Yoruba by the Cuban poet Nicolas Guillen:

The recordings of these fragments were analized through Linear Predictive Coding. The resynthesis was done with Csound. I made emphasis on the phrases “cantando voy” and “llorando estoy.” Its contradictory meaning suggested to me the climactic point of the piece that is reached by the superposition of cross synthesis sounds.  Yoruba ends with the phrase “suelte el zapato,” giving a satiric touch to its end.
