Zunzun – Program notes:

Zunzun is a bee hummingbird, a species of hummingbird that is endemic to Cuba. It is the smallest living bird, it lives in the forest. It stays in the air by moving its wings approximately 80 times per second. When I was asked to write a piece for the unusual combination of Eb Cl and marimba, the image of the Zunzun came to me, such a combination of agility and beauty that can be easily missed due to its size.
