Commissioned by SONOR Ensemble from Madrid, Spain and the 32nd Festival of Spanish Music of Leon, Spain for the 500 Anniversary of Havana City. Premiered at this Festival in September 2019.
Havana is known as the city of lights, and the historic section of the city has many tall columns sometimes eroded by the past of time, allowing us to see the light coming through the eroded areas. Also, a city full of music, one can experience different styles of music going from one neighborhood to another. Since everyone loves music, music of many different styles flows out of all their open windows. These sound and visual images were the sources of inspiration for this piece.
Performance at the Walt Disney Hall, New York Philharmonic Pan-American Concert in the Green Concert Series. Conductor: Carlos Miguel Prieto.
